The Purpose of Prayer…

“When a person is born again from above, the life of the Son of God is born in him, and he can either starve or nourish that life.  Prayer is the way that the life of God in us is nourished. Our common ideas regarding prayer are NOT found in the New Testament.  We look upon prayer simply as a means to get answers, but the real purpose of prayer is that we get to know God HIMself.”   From the Aug 28, My Utmost for HIS Highest

There are only 25 days of Prayer remaining until the PBM Board of Directors seek to discern (not decide, as decide bases everything on information) our Lord’s continued direction for Paradise Bound and those HE has called us to!   As I jumped with both feet into this 30 day journey of extraordinary Prayer with and for PBM, I began to wonder if even “discernment rather than decision” was the true Prayer journey our Lord has for each of us…  The quote above, “We look upon prayer simply as a means to get answers, but the purpose of prayer is that we get to know God HIMself.”  answered that clearly, and has rocked my Prayer Life yet again!

My friends, I Pray that many many of you have joined us in this 30 days of Prayer (and fasting).  But I stand humbly corrected as I thought that seeking “discernment rather than direction” was enough.   We do seek discernment over direction, but, if we stop there…we stop dreadfully short.  The enemy of our souls, AND of those our Lord has called us to, must celebrate tremendously every time that we seek only answers, direction, or even discernment…but fail to fully grasp the real purpose of Prayer; “that we get to know God HIMself.”

More to follow soon…Pray with and for us these next 25 days, “that we (all) get to know God HIMself”, that much more!

HIS servant,
dan
