About Open Doors
Open Doors is unlike any orphanage. These precious children are being raised on a mission base where we seek to passionately reach the lost! The orphanage began operating on November 9, 2011, after a lengthy process to obtain permits. It was on this date, thanks be to God, that we received the paperwork to operate legally. The first child we received was Juan de Dios who was found abandoned in an empty lot. He was rescued by people who informed the local authorities and brought him to our orphanage on December first of that same year. Up to the present time we have received 129 children at Open Doors. We have much to celebrate as 89 of those children have returned home to either a parent or another close family member, and 17 have been adopted into loving homes! What is a normal day at the Orphanage?
6.30 - 8.00am: Children wake up, shower and change (personal grooming), followed by breakfast. 8.00 - 10.00am: Bottle feeding, diaper change and playtime/child stimulation. 10.00 - 12.00pm: Refreshments, diaper change, and various activities depending on age. 12.00 - 3.00pm: Lunch, diaper change, and nap. 3.00 - 6.00pm: Activities/stimulation, free time, dinner, diaper change and ready to sleep all night 6:00pm: Bed-time!
